Call to host Regional Flag Football & Basketball Championships

Part of the National Campus Championship Series

NIRSA Member Institutions are encouraged to submit an online application to host either a Regional Flag Football Championship in the fall of 2008, or a Regional Basketball Championship in February or March of 2009. Deadline to submit the flag football application is March 14, while the deadline for basketball applications is March 21.

In stressing our commonality theme, the NCCS Committee recently recommended replacing the eight-region extramural map with a six-region regional map, effective June 1, 2008. Until recently, the National Campus Championship Series utilized two different regional maps for their sports; it now has one map throughout all NCCS events. Even with six regions, there will still be eight regional flag football and basketball events each year. Each region has an opportunity to host an event, which will leave two at-large bids. This structure allows all regions the opportunity to bid and creates flexibility to place tournaments in regions with high demand.

The NCCS map has split each of the six regions in half in an attempt to address traveling distances and potential for growth. This structure offers more opportunity for NIRSA member schools to host an NCCS Regional, and for teams to compete. The NSC Board recently approved these changes. View the NCCS Regional Map.
