2006 National Collegiate Golf Championship Local Qualifying sites

Part of the National Campus Championship Series

Forty universities have been selected to host a local qualifying event for the 2006 National Collegiate Golf Championship (NCGC), part of the NIRSA National Campus Championship Series. This year’s NCGC program will offer local qualifiers in 24 states and Puerto Rico. Defending champion University of Southern Mississippi returns for a fourth year of hosting, as do Pac-10 rivals the University of Southern California and UCLA. LQ Host schools receive a prize package valued at over $500 and over $40 per player. LQ Host schools that have more than 40 players receive a Southwest Airlines round-trip plane ticket to defray travel costs to the Championship.

Winning teams from Local Qualifiers advance to the 5th Annual National Collegiate Golf Championship in Las Vegas November 10-12, 2006, managed by Collegiate Golf Alliance (CGA). A two-person scramble event for collegiate amateurs, the NCGC allows golfers to compete for their university in three divisions: Student, Faculty/Staff and Alumni/Community.

“The NCGC brings together students, faculty and alumni to compete for their university and against other colleges and universities. The level of enthusiasm and involvement over the past few years promises an exciting program for both Local Qualifiers and a true National Championship,” stated CGA’s President and CEO Mike Munson.

Sponsors of the event include Southwest Airlines, Warrior Custom Golf, Cutter & Buck, American Hole in One, Red Bull, Sports Illustrated On Campus, Advantage Fitness Products and American Golf.

Portions of proceeds of the Local Qualifiers and the Championship will benefit the NIRSA Foundation. To date, the NCGC program has raised over $12,500 for the Foundation.
