National Intramural Basketball Championship (NIBC) brings on the heat

2006 NIBC AtlantaThe 4th Annual NIRSA National Intramural Basketball Championship will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on April 21-23, 2006. Georgia Tech Campus Recreation is proud to host this event for the second year in a row. Our new, state-of-the-art, Campus Recreation Center is located in Midtown Atlanta, the heart of the city. Join us for an exciting weekend of tournament play in Hotlanta!

The NIBC is part of the NIRSA National Campus Championship Series, along with the eight regional basketball tournaments taking place at University of Alabama at Birmingham, University of Arizona, Oakland University, Boston University, University of Iowa, Texas A&M University, University of Maryland, and Washington State University. See the results from these events. The winning teams, both men and women, earn a free entry into the NIBC. In addition, the remaining 48 teams are from NIBC-endorsed state tournaments and through open registration.

The Championship games will be held at the Alexander Memorial Coliseum at McDonald’s Center. Team and individual awards will be given to the tournament champions and runners-up in each division, as well as the selection of All-American teams and MVPs. The NIBC officials are comprised of all-tournament officials from the regional events and those who have submitted an application to the NIBC staff, so we expect the best intramural teams being officiated by the very best intramural officials. The 2006 NIBC staff consists of over 40 volunteer staff from around the country, all coming to Atlanta to provide their wealth of experience to ensure this year’s NIBC is the best ever.

More information can be found on the NIBC website. Nightlife, entertainment, shopping, and dining are all within minutes of the Georgia Tech campus and team hotels. Tip-off begins April 21 at 1 p.m.
