Foundation scholarship recipients: where are they now?

Cat Cramp

Catherine "Cat" Cramp
Then: (1994) University of Illinois
Now: Pepperdine University, Malibu, California; CRSS, Director, Campus Recreation.

Catherine holds a Master's Degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign, and an Undergraduate degree from California State University, Long Beach.

Cat has been an active NIRSA Member for 13 years, has attended numerous conferences and presented on the state, regional and national level. She has served on various committees such as Conference Program, Sport Clubs, Student Professional Development, several task forces and chaired the Student Leadership & Academic Awards Committee.

"The Foundation scholarship that was awarded to me over 12 years ago laid the foundation for my deep love for the field of Campus Recreation, the professional staff and the students. I have been blessed with the friendships and experiences and am honored to be a NIRSA Member."

Prior to Pepperdine, Cat was the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo. During her seven years at Cal Poly, she at one point managed the Aquatics, Collegiate Sport Clubs, Front Line Services, Memberships, PR/Marketing and Outreach, Staff Development and Training programs. Cat was also a part-time lecturer for the Natural Resources Management Department; teaching Facilities Management and Recreational Sports Programming.

Cat's passion involves the entrepreneurial spirit in the recreational sports setting. Her enthusiasm stems from working with students and colleagues. She is highly dedicated to the development and raising the level of professionalism in our field from students to colleagues. She continues to strive for excellence in herself as well as those in the profession.

This August, Cat became the Director for Campus Recreation at Pepperdine University where she is able to mix her Christian faith with that of the values and mission of the university.
